Purpose of this Form

This consent form is part of the journalist accreditation process for CAN 2026 in Kigali. It explains how your personal data will be collected, used, shared, and retained by the Local Organizing Committee (LOC), the Confédération Africaine de Handball (CAHB), and necessary third parties for event-related operations (accreditation, security, logistics, and media services). By submitting this form, you acknowledge and agree to the terms below.

Data Collection and Uses

  1. Accreditation management: identity verification, eligibility assessment, badge issuance, and access control.
  2. Security and safety: background checks where lawful and necessary, venue entry controls, and emergency response.
  3. Operational logistics: seating, workspace allocations, transportation, and accommodation coordination (if applicable).
  4. Communications: event updates, schedules, media advisories, and post-event follow-ups.
  5. Compliance and audit: record keeping required by governing bodies and applicable laws.

Legal Basis for Processing

Your data is processed on one or more of the following legal bases: (a) your consent; (b) performance of accreditation and event participation requirements; (c) compliance with legal obligations; and (d) legitimate interests in ensuring secure and efficient event operations.

Data Sharing

Where necessary and proportionate, your data may be shared with CAHB, the LOC, security agencies, technology providers (accreditation systems), transportation and accommodation partners, and other service providers supporting event operations. All third parties will be bound by contractual or legal obligations to protect your data.

Data Retention

Personal data collected for accreditation will be retained for the duration of CAN 2026 and for up to 6 months after the tournament for reporting, compliance, and audit purposes, unless a longer period is required by law or for the establishment, exercise, or defense of legal claims.

Your Rights

  1. Access: request a copy of your personal data.
  2. Rectification: request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data.
  3. Erasure: request deletion where applicable and lawful.
  4. Restriction: request limitation to processing in certain circumstances.
  5. Objection/Withdrawal: object to processing or withdraw consent (note: withdrawal does not affect prior lawful processing and may impact accreditation eligibility).
  6. Portability: request transfer of your data where technically feasible.

International Data Transfers

If your data is transferred across borders, appropriate safeguards (such as contractual protections) will be applied in accordance with applicable data protection laws.

Accuracy of Information

You confirm that the information provided is accurate and complete to the best of your knowledge. Providing false or misleading information may result in refusal or revocation of accreditation.
